Unit 6 Test Today!!
The test today will cover: 
Numbers 1-100 (Cardinal-1,2,3 AND Ordinal- 1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Math vocabulary
Geography terms
Seasons
Weather

** All study guides are due BEFORE the test begins! Any students missing class must take the test during lunch or afterschool on mon or tues of next week!

 
1. Song Intro: Que Passent les Saisons- Wilfred Le Bouthillier (see above)
2. Celsius: complete a quick matching activity of Celsius temperatures (download includes 1- description of celsius temperatures, 2- test your comprehension matching activity and 3- the answers so you can check yourself) 
3. Listening Activity: Listen to the podcast (click to download) on le météo et les saisons. As it describes the weather for each season in France, draw it on the worksheet(click to download) feel free to note anything in the "Notes" section below the outline of France for descriptions about the weather that aren't draw-able.  
4. Discussion: Que fait une bonne affiche? (What makes a good poster)
5. Choose a topic from the ones we have studied in class & create a poster summarizing the most important information gathered from that reading.  After all posters have been completed, students will present in 2-3 min the information to the class.

Intro: Listen to Tchaikovsky's "Les Saisons" 

Today we will:

1. Go through powerpoint w/weather pictures, students need to write 2 (or 1 really well developed) sentence(s) about each picture that are completely unique.  You may NOT repeat any sentence.  Each slide should start with the number of slide you are writing about.  Ex: La première est une photo de l'hiver.  Dans la photo, il y a beaucoup de neige.
 
2. Listen to the song above called Les Saisons by Alain Souchon and fill in the missing blanks as you listen to the song.  There are 2 fill-in-the-blank versions: EASY and HARD (Select the right difficulty for yourself)

3.  As a class we will compile our lists of the 20 most important words from our geography unit.  Our class list will be added to the Tic-Tac-Toe Study guide for the unit 

NOTE: there will be a test next week on WEDNESDAY covering: Cardinal numbers, Ordinal numbers, directional words, weather, Geography vocab and facts about France 
 
Today in class we will:

1. Powerpoint: Learning Nouns & adjectives related to weather (Click to download ppt summary)

2. Adding these vocab words into notes/picture dictionary as needed

3. Complete multiple choice worksheet on weather using the new vocabulary

4. Listening activity (click to download mp3): Draw/write weather forecast for France on Map of France worksheet

5. Complete a worksheet regarding the 20 most important words from our Geography unit of study

Here is what we will be doing today:

2. Add in Bad Weather vocab into your picture dictionary:
Il fait mauvais. - It's bad weather outside
Il y a un orage. - There is a storm
Il y a des éclairs. - there is lightning
La température est de 5 degrés. - It's 5 degres celsius outside.

Il pleut. (It's raining.), Il neige. (It's snowing.)

Il fait beau (It's beautiful), Il fait chaud(It's hot), Il fait du soleil (It's sunny), Il fait du vent (It's windy), Il fait frais (It's cool), Il fait froid (It's cold)

Il y a du brouillard( It's foggy)
Le ciel est couvert (It's cloudy)

Homework: Math Worksheet part 2
 
Since all but 2 students were absent from French 2 today, we decided to watch part of Madagascar in French instead of continuing with our unit and also talked about animals and the sounds they make in other languages.  We learned, for example, that in english, we teach our children that the sound a turkey makes is "gobble, gobble", but in French a turkey says "glou, glou".

For those of you wondering, we will continue as a class where we left off on Wednesday.
